Indian Television Industry is a world of glamour and fame. Popularity of a TV star cannot be measured; it can be understood by knowing this fact that fans wait everyday for their favourite actor to feature in the daily soap. This love and fame is so magnetic that we see bollywood actors try their luck in television shows and become the king of TRPs.
Today we present to you some extremely talented young actors, who after a brief/ successful/ unsuccessful stint in films are ruling the Television industry.
Raqesh Bapat, with his spectacled chocolate boy looks, debuted in the musical hit release of 2001 “Tum Bin”, though not the lead role, but his character was the reason for the movie to come out as hauntingly beautiful. After a not so fruitful stint on the big screen, Bapat appeared in “Saat Phere” as his Television debut. Since then he has done several TV shows and is now a known name in the television Fraternity.
Who dreams of a debut in Subhash Ghai film, next to the mighty Shahrukh Khan, yet have the girls swoon over his looks and go crazy despite a slightly gray character. Well Apurva Agnihotri got just that. His Debut role was in the movie “Pardes” of Rajiv, an NRI who visits India to marry Ganga (Mahima Chaudhry). Apurva Agnihotri became an overnight sensation and when he debuted on Television as Armaan Suri in “Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi”, he took the television by storm. “Armaan Sir” became the new heartthrob in the telly world.
Before acting in films like Qayamat, Shaadi ka Laddu, Girlfriend and Dhamaal, Ashish Chaudhry acted in a Television Movie Humko Ishq ne maara. Though his TV debut as a lead happened in year 2001 in Hum pardesi ho gaye, but he got recognition in 2013 TV serial “Ek Mutthi Aasman” as Raghav Singhania, the intense Businessman, who falls in love with his maid’s daughter. His latest TV stint was as Detective Dev Anand Burman.
The light eyes lad, acted in coming of age TV series Just Mohabbat back in the 90s. However he got his big break as Raj Chaudhary in Abbas Mastan’s Fantasy Thriller “Tarzan the Wonder car”. After doing films for a few years, Seth returned to Television as the Baddy Shaurya Goenka in “Ek Hasina Thi” where he played the negative lead. After doing a couple of more shows, Vatsal is now creating a buzz again as Kabir Raichand in an ongoing TV series Haasil. Kabir’s popularity has fetched Vatsal, Lion Gold Award for Best Actor Critic.
Talk about “Chote”, i.e. Vatsal Seth, here we present his “Bade”for you. Ranvir Raichand, the no-nonsense businessman from Haasil. This is a huge TV debut for this bollywood star Zayed Khan. Son of actor Sanjay Khan, Zayed set his foot in the industry in Chura Liya hai tumne. However he is best known for his role as Lakshman “lucky” in Farah Khan’s Main Hoon Na. Though Zayed struggled in the beginning with his role as Ranvir Raichand, but watch him now ace the role of an obsessive lover in the show. He is receiving accolades for portraying the gray character with full conviction.
Iqbal Khan got the limelight when he featured in a Falguni Pathak music video. Later went to do a couple of movies including Fantush: Dudes in 9th century. However he became a rage in every household after his portrayal of Angad Khanna, the rockstar in TV show Kaisa Ye Pyar hai. Iqbal Khan became a different league altogether, so much so that the show he enters, the character he portrays, he becomes synonymous to it. Be it Flight Lt Abhimanyu of choona hai aasmaan, Anshuman Rathore of Tumhari Pakhi or Ishaan Hooda of Pyaar ko ho jaane do.
They say we save best for the last. This Last however is definitely a new high the Indian Television scene as of today. TV industry’s blue eyed boy, Nakuul Mehta got his big break as Rohit in Haal-e-Dil alongside Adhayayan Suman. Where he played the parallel lead. Mehta however didn’t have a successful bollywood run. But as they say, success has different forms. Mehta found his success as a TV lead actor in famous show Pyaar ka dard hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. After a successful run the show went off air, opening the doors of success for Nakuul Mehta. He now can be seen slaying as Shivaay Singh Oberoi in the famous show Ishqbaaaz. His portrayal of a rude business man turned lover with his “tadi” has raised the bar for the TV actors.
